1 May 2020
CESAR in joint venture with Health Focus South Africa has completed the tuberculosis (TB) out-of-pocket expenditure study for the Lesotho government. The study collected data on 832 TB patients across the country and estimated the total out-of-pocket medical and non-medical costs for treating a TB patient. We also determined the percentage of households which experienced catastrophic heath expenditure due to TB treatment. Further analysis identified the patient and household factors that predict catastrophic health expenditure.
